Samson

Nye has been into music lately. He enjoys making up silly songs and singing them with a straight face. There's a serious song that has caught his ear. It's what he calls "the quiet song" (Samson by Regina Spektor).

From my rear view mirror, I watch him staring out the window and concentrating on the lyrics (don't worry, Samson is the only song I'll let him listen to on that CD). Today he asked, "Mommy, what does sweetest mean?" So I explained how I have three "sweeties": Daddy, Nye and Cal. He asked a few more questions and we ended up discussing the story of Samson and Delilah. It was pretty sweet to watch his eyes light up when we talked about Samson's strength being in his hair. Nye was mesmerized and begged me to retell the story again and again.
