On Friday, Nye’s pre-school class, the Explorers, marked the end of the year with a picnic and train ride at the park downtown. Little did we know that dozens of other classes, from what looked like kindergarten to middle school, had the same idea. On top of that, a production crew was filming some sort of commercial in front of one of the playscapes, so there was camera and lighting equipment everywhere. Despite the mayhem and the oppressing heat, no one was lost and no one passed out.
Nye decided to cool off in the creek for a bit and some of his friends followed suit. His dip ended when he fell in, soaking himself and cutting his knee. Even this could not dampen his spirit. After a picnic, during which Nye tried out his Laptop Lunchbox (I highly recommend this Japanese bento-style box), we wrapped up the trip with a much-anticipated train ride. The sighting of two baby armadillos next to the tracks will make this train trip memorable.
