Cal is 8 and 1/2 months and is sooo close to crawling. The poor kid is getting frustrated, but he's able to get around by scooting; needless to say he gets much further on the hardwoods than the carpet. He is very intent on pulling himself up to standing. Although he has yet to stand successfully, he seems to put a lot of effort into it. So far, he ends up kneeling. Sometimes we wonder if he'll skip crawling altogether and go straight to walking (let's hope not!).
Here's a photo of Cal kneeling in his crib. It's about time to lower the mattress (it would be just our luck for him to stand for the first time in his crib and then flip over the rail onto the floor -- just perfect). He had a meltdown (overtired) seconds after this photo was taken, thus the unenthusiastic look.
