Callahan moved from the Dragonfly class to the Duckling class in mid-March. His new teacher, Ms. Christy, writes notes about his day in his daily sheet. Last Friday, she made a note about the day’s unit, lemons. Apparently the kids made lemonade. Her comments said: “Cal was really good at squeezing lemons. His hands are surprisingly strong. He also enjoyed eating the lemons; he didn’t even pucker.”
We knew it wasn’t our imagination; that boy has super-human strength!
As I explained last year, most people call Callahan “Hanny,” which is short for Hanny-Banany, courtesy of his big brother. Over the last week, Hanny has insisted that we call him by his full name: “Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx.” You can imagine the mouthful this creates when we talk about who loves him before bed each night. Mommy and Daddy love Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, Nye loves Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, Kitzie loves Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, Sue loves Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, Minnie loves Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, Trixie loves Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, Grammy M. loves Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, Aunt Sissy and Alex love Callahan Dixon Gxxxxxx, etc. etc. etc……
Last month the boys’ school celebrated the Week of the Young Child. One day was “Crazy Hair” day and all the kids had to wear crazy hair that day. Apparently the fauxhawks I styled weren’t crazy enough: Callahan came home with blue streaks in his hair and all-over pigtails.
